5 Truths to Cling to During a Busy Season

5 Truths to Cling to During a Busy Season.

I enjoy it when my sister Cree comes to town to visit. She lives in Los Angeles, Ca. I live about an hour or so from her. We always have countless moments of laughter and amazing Sis-Talk moments when we talk about the dreams, goals, and inspirations that God has put on our hearts. It's one of my favorite times. My children love her too! she is one big ball of light ready to make you laugh your pants off.

This past holiday for Memorial day, we had a great three days together. We went swimming, caught up on life events. It's just something about being in the presence of family and friends, who provide the encouragement and guidance needed.

Every time, I talk with my sister I always make it a point to listen to her and listen to understand, although she is my little sister by four years, I've learned so much from her and she has dropped so many knowledge bombs on me, from ways to be a better mother for my children to ways to be a better server of the Lord and just overall good person. I love my sister Cree and just like many other sisters, I would do anything in the world for her.

This past holiday has taught me a lot about love, patience, and gratitude. On one of my food runs when I went to the Taco station at a local place in town. My sister handed me her car keys and I drove her car to get us some good amazing tacos! I mean who doesn't love tacos on Memorial Day. And as I was on my way, I attempted to play some Gospel music but my auxiliary cord was not working or compatible with my phone so I ended up stopping on a Christian radio station, and let me tell you... I fell so in love with the message the Lord had for me.

During this 10-minute car ride the Lord spoke to my heart, a young lady named Judy was giving a devotional about "Slowing down so we don't miss the wonders of Jesus" she was speaking of Mary and how amazing of a woman she was. She spoke of Luke 10: 38-42

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

She mentioned how Mary was sitting at Jesus's feet and how Martha was distracted. In this moment and with this scripture it reminded me of the distractions of life, how sometimes we can become so distracted with life that we can forget to sit at the feet of Jesus.

Sometimes life get's busy and this is not a good thing. We are mothers, daughters, co-workers, we get busy it's true and sometimes we can get distracted. The enemy loves a busy Christian who does not have time to sit with the Lord. And as I drove to get tacos the Lord had me in tears, as Judy went on with her devotional and talked about how the work of ministry kept her busy, the work of being a wife and mother kept her busy and she was missing out on that true, intimate time with Jesus. At this moment God reminded me of the true value in spending quality intimate time with Him.

In some way I felt conviction, yes I had been spending time with God, but am I spending time with God to deliver a message for YouTube, Instagram, or content ?. Or am I truly spending time with the Lord for my soul, am I distracted as Martha was or am I as devoted and sitting at the feet of Jesus like Mary? the thoughts ran through my mind and sat on my heart.

After this ride with conviction and tacos, I started to pray out to God with thanksgiving and praise for putting this important message on my heart, I started to thank Him for allowing us to be hungry and get tacos because if I wasn't on my way to get tacos then I probably would not have heard this important message.

God is so loving and compassionate to us, He is ready to fill us up at any time, and with this powerful message that I received from a Christian radio station, I felt the need to cling to scripture and share 5 Truths to cling during a busy season that I learned from this past holiday and the lovely radio message.

  • Staying focused on Jesus is the way.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

  • Prioritizing our time with God . There must be a time for daily prayer and reflection with the Lord. A time when we are seeking the Lord's word and His promises faithfully.
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and there prayed.

  • Remain in Christ- a Reminder to not become a part of the world and the world beliefs. A reminder to stay rooted in Christ. It's easy to get caught up in what the "world" says and not focus on what "God" says. God's word is all-powerful.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

  • Pray that God remove distractions- Serving the Lord is a beautiful thing and the Enemy has a plan set out to destroy and righteousness. Praying to God to remove distractions in our path will help us along the way.

1 Corinthians 7:35 I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.

  • Set our attention on the King- With distractions that can easily happen in life its best to cling to scripture that instructs us to obey the Lord in Hebrews 12:2 it says " Fixing out attention on Jesus". Let's set all of our attention on the true King and allow him to be the center of our life.

Hebrews 12:2 Fixing our attention on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of the faith, who, given the joy set before Him, endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

These scriptures and truths transform our hearts and lives when we live by them! I pray this blesses you immensely!

Warmly,

Camille Alane
