4 Ways To Defeat Satan In A Spiritual Battle
Our battle is not against flesh
As we know Satan is very smart and he's definitely not a dummy when it comes to God's word, I can say im pretty sure Satan knows the Bible more than some believers. He's smart and active when it comes to His purpose and he doesn't take any days off from making people's life miserable. This life journey that we are all on is a Spiritual Battle. In scripture God expresses in
Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, against spiritual forces in the heavens".
So we as believers are in God's army. The duty for us is to defeat Satan right? There's always a battle between good and bad. By being in this army of Christ we need tools and weapons to defeat the Enemy when he comes knocking on the door ready to stir up things in our life. Below I have listed 4 ways to help you defeat Satan when the spiritual battle comes around. (not in any particular order).
1. Put on the Spiritual Armor of God- What is the Spiritual Armor of God? It's a metaphor in the Bible in (Ephesians 6:13-17) Scripture list in depth.
-
Belt of Truth
-
Breast Plate of Righteousness
-
The Gospel of Peace
-
The Shield of Faith
-
The Helmet of Salvation
-
The Sword of The Spirit
This is the complete armor of God, we can't go to war without any armor to defeat Satan. We must start with placing on God's armor each day to take on your battle. Satan does not sleep, so prepare yourself for war my friend! We do not give up around here.
2. Create a Union with God- Intimate time spent with God is important, you need to make it a habit to spend real, personal quality time with Him. This is the only way to stay strong in the Lord and His word as it says in Ephesians 6:10 "Be Strong in the Lord" So give God your schedule and your time instead of trying to "make time" for God "give" Him your time. You may need to reach out to your pastor for help. I remember when I was going through a very challenging time in my life, where the battles that I had to fight were back to back, it was tough, I hated life, I was exhausted from life's circumstances. One day Satan tried it he sure did and I remember grabbing my phone and texting my pastor for help with prayer. I was desperate for help. It reminds me to never get comfortable or too passive when it comes to Satan, He will never leave you alone. He has a purpose just like everyone else and he loves a believer who doesn't know the power of God's word. He also knows your life so it's best to develop a union with God, the King of Kings who will fight for you. Regular spent time with the Lord will allow you to recognize when you're in a spiritual battle.
PSALM 91:1 The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
3. Read your Bible - Diving deep into God's word is the best thing you can do for your entire soul. It's for sure one of the top ways you can defeat Satan. You have to know that you can find everything you need about life in the Bible. One of the best things about the Bible is that you can read it 100 times and you will probably interpret it differently every single time. It suits you for every season in your life . God's word is nourishment for our souls. In scripture Jesus says in
Matthew 4:4 " It is written: "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
God's word has so much power. In Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living, and effective and sharper than any double -edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Reading your Bible faithfully will allow you to know and learn His word, so your able to use His word in times of need.
4. Find a church to attend- Finding a good church for you to be apart of is important, sometimes the battles with Satan can be more than tough to the point where support is needed. So finding a church to become apart of is great. You might need extra prayer when your faith is tested. So why not join a church where other like minded Christ lovers can help you. In Matthew 18:20 it says " For where to or more are gathered together in my name, I am among them".
I hope this blog was helpful. Always remember you have the victory over Satan. Sending love and light.
Warmly,
